MOUNTAIN

Almost everybody out there knows that 'Mt. Everest' is the highest mountain in the world. But not many people are aware of the fact that 'Mauna Kea' gets the distinction of being the highest mountain in the world, when measured from the ocean floor.

The geographical diversity of the planet can be ascertained from the basic fact that there is a difference of 19,881 meters between the highest point and the lowest point on the Earth. This may sound astonishing, but it is just one of the numerous amazing facts about Earth. Shifting our focus back to the highest point, everybody is aware of the fact that Mt. Everest, located in Nepal, is the highest mountain in the world, technically, with a height of 8,848 meters (29,029 feet) above the mean sea level. Before we get into the details of the matter, let's have a look at the various other contenders which were denied the top spot by Mt. Everest.
